DAWN Canada Hosts Intersectional Human Rights Forum

 

 

While intersectionality and Gender Based Analysis (GBA+) have become buzzwords in Canada, for women with disabilities and Deaf women, meaningful equity solutions rest with the application of an intersectional lens; that is, one that can respond to multiple forms of discrimination. Following on an election promise, the Government of Canada has committed to applying a disability lens to all its policies and had already begun to see results from a more robust application of GBA+ in their last mandate.  Wouldn’t it be so 2020 for Canada to be the first country to fully commit to intersectional human rights?

 

Who: Hosted by the DisAbled Women’s Network (DAWN) Canada.

What: Do the Rights Thing: An Intersectional Human Rights Policy Forum brings together presenters from the human rights, feminist, disability and labour sectors to examine what the practical application of an intersectional human rights framework would look like in labour, government, employment, and education.

When: Tuesday December 3, 2019  9:00am - 4:00pm
