Women's March 2019
In January 2017 women-led marches took place across the globe as women and allies took to the streets to call for justice and equity for all. This year, the third Women’s March will be held on January 19 in cities around the world. Women from across Canada will gather together to fight for women’s rights and call for an end to violence against women, ALL women.
Violence against women with disabilities and Deaf women must be central in this call to action.
- 1 in 4 women in Canada has a disability.
- In 45% of all incidents of violence, including sexual assault, theft, physical violence, the victims were women with disabilities.
- There are no dedicated violence prevention services and programs for women with disabilities and Deaf women.
Use the hashtag #MoreThanAFootnoteWwd and join us to make sure that women with disabilities and Deaf women are more than a footnote in violence prevention programs and services.
