We encourage and support women with disabilities and Deaf women to break the silence, and claim our right to speak, to be heard and to be believed.

If you feel you need to talk to someone about your situation, here is a list of crisis hotlines in major cities across Canada.

How to submit:

  1. Decide what you want to say and how you want to say it. This could be a personal experience, a feeling, thought or opinion in support of women with disabilities who are victims of violence; or information that can help support women with disabilities.
  2. Decide what format you want to use to share your story or thoughts: a Tweet, a longer story; a photo, artwork that depicts your experience; or even a video.
  3. Check out our website  for examples of stories that been shared.
  4. Tweet your message or photo to us @DAWNRAFHCanada using the hashtag #WeCanTellWeWillTell” OR
  5. Email us your written story. Or if you made a video send us a link to your video file using a file-sharing site such as Dropbox.
  6. We may not be able to use all the images or stories we get. If we are able to use your story we will contact you and ask you to complete a release form that gives us permission to use your story.
  7. Please note that we may need to edit your story or video for length or clarity, but we will let you know if we need to edit it and you will have a chance to see the final version.
  8. We will collect all the images, stories, videos and messages and post them on our website under the “We Can Tell, We Will Tell!” tab.
